10. Irreversibility

This scandalous film by the French director Gaspard Noet is distinguished by a plot told in reverse chronological order. A particularly depressing impression on the viewer is made by the nine-minute scene of the brutal rape of the main character. Especially for the film, a low-frequency soundtrack was written, causing some viewers to feel dizzy and nauseous.

9. Grave of fireflies

The dramatic feature film in the anime genre was shot in 1988 by Japanese director Isao Takahata. The plot is based on real events and tells the story of a boy whose parents died during World War II. The film begins with the death scene of the protagonist, and all subsequent scenes lead the viewer to a tragic denouement.

8. The Passion of Christ

This film was shot about the last day of Jesus Christ's life by actor and director Mel Gibson in 2004. The picture contains scenes of torture, torture, cruelty of the crowd, mother’s suffering and death, which is a deliverance from torment, are shown. The actors in the film speak Aramaic and Latin, subtitles are intended for the audience.

7. And the dawns here are quiet

One of the most tragic films of Soviet cinema is dedicated to the feat of five young female volunteers who died in an unequal battle with German saboteurs in 1942. Despite the dramatic plot, the film was included with the number of high school students recommended for viewing.

6. Crucible

South Korean drama talks about the work of an art teacher at a school for children with hearing impairments. The young teacher is witnessing how children are used to satisfy the most cruel and base passions of teachers who are covered by the authorities of a small provincial town.

5. Cargo 200

The film by Aleksey Balabanov was released in 2007. The film takes place in the sunset era of the USSR. The drama of the plot is attached to a demonstration of the atrocities generated by mental damage, and public indifference. In many movie theaters, the film was withdrawn from rental due to cruel and realistic pictures.

4. The girl opposite

The film was shot based on the novel of the same name, which was based on the real story of the murder of Sylvia Likens. In the United States, the film is banned for viewing by persons under the age of 17, due to the abundance of scenes of violence, torture and sexual acts.

The military drama of the Soviet director Elem Klimov tells the story of a Belarusian boy who witnessed a brutal Nazi punitive action. Within two days, the child turns into a gray-haired old man. 2. Oldboy

The script of this South Korean drama was based on the Japanese manga of the same name Garon Tsuchiya and Nobuaki Minegishi. The plot tells the story of a life-burner who spent 15 years in prison on suspicion of killing his own wife. The film was shot in the genre of hard and pretty bloody detective story.

1. Johnny took the gun

The young American is terribly wounded during the First World War - his arms and legs are amputated, the guy is practically devoid of sensory organs. Severe drama is one of the most powerful anti-war films. “Johnny took the gun” is a picture of despair, loneliness and life, broken in a bloody meat grinder of a brutal war.
